Bank said no — was it policy, or something else?
When an Australian bank knocks back a loan, it isn’t always bad credit. Often the file just didn’t fit that lender’s rules.
These guides help you work out what happened, what not to do next, and when a broker rematch (or a small selective facility under about $30k) is even worth talking about.
We’ll need to assess your situation before anything goes ahead.
Who this is for
- Declined (or likely to be) on policy / fit
- Credit and repayments still look workable
- Car, asset / equipment, or small business need under about $30k
Who this is not for
- Payday or “no credit check” hunting
- Treating Jokuda as a bad-credit lender
- Anyone expecting a guaranteed yes
In short
What is a policy decline?
A policy decline means that lender’s product rules said no — ABN age, docs, asset age, industry, loan size — even when your credit conduct still looks fine. Different problem from a decline driven by arrears or defaults. Next: get the real reason, then rematch. In some cases Jokuda can also talk about selective funding under about $30k where the file fits.

Questions
Is a policy decline the same as bad credit?
No. Policy is about that lender’s rules and whether your file fits. Bad credit is about conduct — arrears, defaults, that sort of thing. Jokuda works on policy-fit files where risk still looks OK. We don’t do bad-credit lending.
Can Jokuda still help if the bank said no?
Often yes — usually by rematching to another lender. Sometimes, for a smaller need under about $30k, we can look at selective funding if the file fits. Either way we assess first. Nothing’s guaranteed.
What should I do in the first 48 hours?
Don’t spray more applications. Get the reason in writing if you can, check your credit file, then talk to a broker before more enquiries. The first-48-hours guide walks through that order.
Is this only about home loans?
No. This hub is for car, asset and small business policy-decline paths.
Not sure which guide fits?
